제가 이 글을 작성한 방문 연도 : 2014년 10월 28일입니다. \ 한자의 간판들이 엄청나게 많죠? 이 곳은 인천 차이나 타운이 아닙니다. 서울 한 복판입니다. 서울에 차이나타운이 형성되고 있다는 대림동을 방문했습니다. 제 절친 친구의 친구가 이 동네에서 부동산 업을 하고 있는데요. 친절한 설명과 함께 가이드를 받았습니다.

여기 밤에 오면 진짜 중국 갔다고 하네요. 그리고 팔각? 이라는 향신료 냄새도 많이 난다고 합니다. 밤에는 둥굴 한 님들도 많이 돌아다니신다고 하네요. 이 쪽 동네나 시흥본동 쪽 오래전 게임방이나 조선 조폭들은 연장 들고 다녀서 국내 조폭의 70년 대를 방불케 한다고 들었거든요. 요즘도 연장 들고 다니는지는 모르겠네요. 저 어릴 때 시흥 근처 산본 유흥가는 70%를 조폭이 먹고 있었는데 검찰한테 한번 털린 적이 있었다고 기사가 뜨더군요. 그전에 소문으로 술에 약 타고 아침에 거액의 고지서 협박에 털린다는 글이 많았죠.

중국인 후배가 어릴 때 장난으로 집단으로 돌 던지다가 애를 죽였는데 깽값 물어 주고 넘어갔다고 하네요. 당시 엄마가 계모였다고 하네요. 돈 받고 좋아하더라고 합니다. 저랑 친 했던 중국인 후배가 그 당시 한족 친구를 소개해 줬는데요. 자기는 한족이라고 뭔가 자부심을 내더라고요. 어릴 적이라 중국 문화를 잘 몰랐습니다. 그 한족 친구는 교수 아들이라 범생에 착실한 친구이긴 했습니다. 인사동 같이 놀러 가고 그랬는데요. 재미나던 시절이네요. 그 친구 아버지처럼 교수한다고 했는데요. 지금 꿈을 이렀는지 잘 모르겠네요. 제가 심천 있을 때 연락이 돼서 자기 사는데 청도라고 놀러 오라고 했는데요. 버스 한자가 없어서 제가 그때 혼자 가려다가 포기한 적이 있었습니다. 잠시 삼천포로 갔네요. 제가 전에 대법관 출신 강연 들어 봤는데요. 어디를 가든지 범죄나 조폭은 없어질 수 없다고 합니다. 시민이 법을 준수하고 바르게 살아야지 힘이 약해진다고 하네요. 그런데 중국인도 돈 벌로 온 중국인이 있는 반면 돈 많은 중국인들이나 미국 가서 정착한 중 군인 들은 미국계 중국인이라고 불립니다. 미국 동생 때문에 미국계 중국인들을 만날 기회가 있었는데요. 중국이라는 나라가 대단한 게 공산주의와 자본주의가 공존하는 나라입니다.

참 신기한 나라입니다. 작년에 저 소개 시켜 주려고 한 미국계 중국인은 미국 차이나 타운에 지주라고 하는데 7일 여행하는데 천만 원 정도 들고 온다고 합니다. 그 돈도 적게 가지고 오는 거라고 하네요. 한국 올지 홍콩 반얀트리 파티 갈지 고민하더라고요. 다른 중국계 미국인은 일본 연애 기획사 사장님이었는데요. 술 한잔 하다가 다음날 제가 재미있다고 저 불러 다라고 해서 당시 미국 뮤직차트 실무자랑 같이 술 마신적이 있었는데요. 화교 파워를 실감할 수 있었습니다.

기념 샷~ 앞으로 십년 후는 이곳은 어떻게 변할까요? 저는 이런 곳에 많은 기회가 있다고 생각합니다. 사람이 모이는 곳입니다. 지금 부동산이나 부자 동네 뭔가 변화가 있던가요? 살기는 좋지만 저 같은 불가촉천민한테는 기회가 없는 곳입니다. 한국도 출산율이 떨어져서 이민을 받아야만 한다고 합니다. 이런 이민자가 모이는 곳에 기회가 있다고 생각합니다. 그들한테도 기회가 있지만 역시 저 같은 사람한테도 기회가 있을 겁니다. 저 또한 몇 년 전에 정부 지원 사업하면서 중대 경제학 교수님한테 이미자 정책을 준비 중이라고 얼핏 들었고요. 하긴 해야 할 거 같습니다. 요즘 초등학교 반에 애들 수가 너무 적죠? 저희 때는 오전 오후반에 한 반에 50명씩 있었는데요. 지금은 25명 내외에 폐교되는 학교 수도 꽤 많습니다.

미용실 가격은 5천원으로 보입니다. 제가 보기에는 이발소에 가까워 보입니다. 지방 가면 이발소 지금도 있을 겁니다. 어릴 적 기억으로는 면도도 해주고 코털도 잘라주고 가끔은 안마도 해줍니다.
그리고 신기 한게 커피랑 호프를 같이 파는 곳이 많아 보입니다.

자금성 노래방입니다. 자금성은 명나라 때 새운 궁궐로 청나라 시대에도 사용되었던 곳이라고 하는데요. 그래서 청나라 문자를 볼 수 있다고 합니다. 그리고 신기한 건 2층에 있어요. 보통 노래방은 대부분 지하에 있는데요. 부동산 하는 친구 말로는 몇 년 전만 해도 노래방 밑에 말레이시아 베트남 이런 단어가 있었지만 지금은 그냥 다 중국어로 갈긴다고 합니다. 그 뜻은 메인 세력이 쌔졌다는 걸 뜻하겠죠? 저희 아버지도 살아계실 적 베트남 애들 쓰긴 했는데요. 베트남 인력도 지금 한국에 엄청 많이 들어왔는데요. IT 쪽에서야 백인이나 인도 사람이지만 제조업에는 동남아 사람들이 진짜 많죠.

부동산 업 하는 친구 말로는 연변 사투리랑 이북 사투리가 있는데요. 서로 틀리다고 하네요. 그런데 그 배우가 진짜 똑같이 사투리를 구사했다고 하네요. 다들 덕후라 이런 정보들을 잘 아는 듯합니다.

2020년 지금 재 포스팅하면서 느낀 점을 써보겠습니다. 차이나 타운이라는 이름보다는 중국동포타운이 맞다는 생각이 듭니다. 그리고 조선족 역사를 안다면 슬픕니다. 일제 강점기 때 많은 이들이 조선을 떠났고 그들이 정착한 곳이 만주고요. 물론 독립운동하러 간 분들도 많습니다. 안창호 선생님네도 식솔 200명이나 되었다고 하는데요 다 이끌고 넘어갔다고 들었습니다. 그리고 독립을 했지만 6.25 끝나고 대한민국은 전쟁이 휴전이 되었는데요. 그러나 중국의 마오쩌뚱은 인해전술 인력을 이용하여 다른 나라를 계속 흡수했다고 합니다. 그중 조선족이 선두에 서서 또 다른 전쟁을 했다고 하는데요. 그렇지 않으면 생존의 위협을 받았기 때문이라고 합니다. 지금 중국에서 조선족이 조선 자치구를 인정받는 이유가 그 들이 목숨 걸고 자신의 생존을 위해 또 한 번의 전쟁을 했기 때문이라고 합니다. 그러니 조선족들의 행동을 보면 저는 이해가 갑니다. 해외를 나가다 보면 말이 같다는 건 같은 민족입니다. 동남아만 가 봐도 공통된 건 불교 하나 빼고는 없습니다. 불교도 소승입니다. 중국, 대한민국은 대승 불교가 많이 퍼져 있습니다. 얼마나 이질감이 느껴지는지 아시나요? 그런데 우리는 이런 공통된 게 많아도 서로 다른 나라 사람이라고 스스로 벽을 만들고 있습니다. 저는 이런 점이 참으로 한심한 생각이라고 생각합니다. 그래서 저는 중국 동포라고 불러주고 싶습니다.
